A Better You: Your 7-Day Program to Self-Improvement
Is your self-esteem on the rocky side? Here are some helpful hints to improve the better you in seven days.
Day 1: Know Your Purpose
Are you wandering through life with little direction, hoping to find happiness, health, and prosperity? Identifying your life purpose or mission statement can serve as your unique compass, leading you to your true north every time.
It might seem tricky at first, especially if you feel stuck or at a dead end. But there's always a way to turn things around and make a big difference in your life.
Day 2: Know Your Values
What do you value most? Make a list of your top five values. Examples might include security, freedom, family, spiritual development, and learning. As you set your goals, check them against your values. If a goal doesn’t align with your top five values, reconsider or revise it.
The number of values shouldn’t discourage you. Instead, let it motivate you to achieve more than you ever dreamed of.
Day 3: Know Your Needs
Unmet needs can prevent you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, or to be loved? Many people live their lives without realizing their dreams, often ending up stressed or depressed. List your top four needs and work on meeting them before it’s too late!
Day 4: Know Your Passions
Understanding who you are and what you truly enjoy in life is crucial. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm might hinder you, but they won’t derail your chances of becoming who you want to be. Express yourself and honor the people who have inspired you to become the person you aspire to be.
Day 5: Live from the Inside Out
Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature and breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For city dwellers, it can be hard to find peace and quiet even at home. Consider sitting in a dimly lit room and playing some classical music. The sound can soothe the savage beast within.
Day 6: Honor Your Strengths
What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three. If you get stuck, ask those closest to you for help. Are you imaginative, witty, or good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. Sharing what you know with others can boost your self-confidence.
Day 7: Serve Others
When you live authentically, you may develop an interconnected sense of being. By staying true to yourself, living your purpose, and sharing your talents with the world, you give back in service. The rewards of sharing your gifts with those around you are immense, especially when a stranger appreciates what you’ve done.
Self-improvement is a rewarding journey. It doesn’t have to be confined to an office building or the four corners of your room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.
